Countdown to Pedal For Pounds 5

It’s just three weeks until “Pedal for Pounds 5” gets underway and our Managing Director - Jon Ellis is putting in some serious training time in preparation for the gruelling 250 mile bike ride from Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium in London to Huddersfield Town’s home- the John Smith’s Stadium.

The annual charity cycle event raises money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance via the “Keep It Up” campaign. This is a cause close to our hearts here at Ferno, and also to Huddersfield Town’s Academy.

The cycle route is nicknamed the 'Chapman Trail' after the former Huddersfield Town and Arsenal manager - Herbert Chapman. The marathon cycling event will begin on April 23 and the cyclists will call at Cambridge, Leicester and Doncaster before ending at the John Smith’s stadium for Huddersfield Town's final home game of the season against Leicester City on Saturday, April 26.

Herbert Chapman managed Huddersfield Town between 1921 and 1925 and won an FA Cup and two First Division titles in the space of four years. Arsenal tempted Chapman to join them in 1925 and he then brought the Gunners the FA Cup and two First Division titles.

With three weeks still to go, there is still time to donate and support Jon. He is hoping to raise £5,000 this time round and has just passed the half way point of this sponsorship target. Visit his fundraising page at http://www.justgiving.com/Jon-Ellis2014 if you wish to sponsor and support Jon and this event.

Find Ferno on twitter (click the button on this page) and tweet your messages of support to Jon as we count down to the big event.
