We have some more dates to add to the list of exhibitions and conferences we are attending in October and November.
On October 9-10 a team from Ferno will be at the Bristol Ambulance Open Day organised by Bristol Ambulance EM at 1 Kings Park Avenue where we will be showcasing a range of trolleys, chairs and other equipment including a roller ramp.
Then on October 12-13 we will be at the Co-operative Funeral Service Managers’ Association’s Conference at the Forest Pines Hotel, Broughton, near Brigg, North Lincolnshire. This is a big conference for Ferno and we will be showing off our entire range of funeral and mortuary equipment.
On October 23-24 the Ferno team responsible for our military equipment will be attending the Defence Medical Services Critical Care Conference at the Defence Academy, Shrivenham. You can find out more about our military offering here.
In November we will be at the Nottingham Belfry Hotel to attend the Mid-Trent Critical Care Annual Conference. Delegates will have the opportunity to learn from the lessons that the military has acquired regarding the 'sprints' of major trauma, and the 'marathon' of rehabilitation, and how both are vital to patient focussed care. Delegates will get an opportunity to see our military equipment and our critical care trolleys.
Then, for three days from November 6 to 8 we will be in London to attend the MEDEVAC 2012 Conference which brings together senior military medical officers to explore the challenges surrounding medical evacuation and in-theatre care, such as the standardisation of equipment, the interoperability of medical teams and their equipment and the modernisation of equipment and medical evacuation platforms.
This is great opportunity for us to engage with our partners in the military and other critical care professionals.
As always if you are attending any of these events do come and meet us and we can show you why we are the leading UK manufacturer of emergency medical equipment, military evacuation equipment and funeral and mortuary solutions.

Ferno launches new Coffin Buggy at BIFD Conference

We are launching our Coffin Buggy - a new lightweight body lifting solution – at the British Institute of Funeral Directors Conference in Harrogate nexct month.
The Coffin Buggy has been developed for funeral directors and morticians who have long demanded a more compact and diverse answer to solve common issues associated with other lifting equipment.
The coffin buggy features a ribbed rubber top to protect the coffin and prevent slippage, and swivel castors with double wheels for extra load bearing and to enable the buggy to run on all floor surfaces.
The Coffin Buggy, which weighs just 3.5kgs and can bear loads of up to 200kgs, will be on show on October 26-27 at the BIFD Conference at the Old Swan Hotel, Harrogate alongside Ferno’s extensive range of funeral and mortuary equipment including the Ferno X Lifter.
The X Lifter makes it possible for anyone to single handedly easily load and unload a coffin rack. It is also super lightweight. It is 5kgs lighter than any similar item and the most compact lifter ever produced at 318mm when closed-down for easy storage when not in use.
Ferno Managing Director Jon Ellis said: “The response we have received from customers operating in the funeral and mortuary sector to equipment like the X Lifter, Flexible Body Fridge and the Coffin Buggy has been very encouraging.
“It underscores our deep understanding of the work funeral and mortuary technicians do and demonstrates how Ferno develops products to meet their needs.”

Come and visit us at the NAPFM Conference

Don’t forget that tomorrow and Wednesday we will be at the National Association of Police Fleet Managers Conference at the Peterborough Arena.
The National Association of Police Fleet Managers’ Conference and exhibition is now in its 39th year. The event is recognised as the oldest and one of largest Emergency Service Fleet Events in Europe.
The event brings together conference delegates from the UK and International Police Services as well as colleagues from the other enforcement agencies, emergency services and government departments. It all kicks off in the first week of October when we head off to Teesside for the North of England Critical Care Network for their autumn conference on October 4.

Then we are off to Scotland for the HMNB Faslane HIE Life Exhibition 2012 on October 11 at the Faslane Naval Yard.

Good day at patient safety conference

Ferno at the National Ambulance Service Patient Safety Conference 2012

You may have seen from some of our Tweets from yesterday when we attended the National Ambulance Service Patient Safety Conference 2012 at Aston Villa Football Club, Villa Park. This is a joint partnership between West Midlands Ambulance Service and the College of Paramedics.
The conference was an excellent opportunity for us to showcase our products which included the Harrier LT-LBS, Compact 2 Track, Scoop EXL and our new UHI as well as get some insight into new trends in patient safety.
This year there were four main areas of focus at the conference: Cardiac and Stroke - Reducing the Delays to Definative Care; Trauma Management - Reducing Mortality and Morbidity; Keeping Patients Safe at the Beginning and End of Life and Maintaining Improvements in Patient Safety.
To those of you visiting our stand yesterday a big thanks you and we look forward to talking to you again in the future.

Happy Birthday Tracey

In training for safety with Ferno

At Ferno we have launched a new training service to ensure that customers get the best use out of our wide range of equipment.
The new service will cover Ferno’s entire range of equipment for key sectors including ambulance; funeral and mortuary; hospital and rescue and evacuation.
The training service ensures that anyone using Ferno’s products will have the right skills set to safely and efficiently use a trolley, wheelchair, rescue chair or, indeed, any of our products.
The service is also available to any organisations, which under law are obliged to have a range of rescue and evacuation products on their premises. As a result we have worked with Google at its European HQ in Dublin, Trinity College and the National Galleries in Scotland.”
We recently delivered a training session to Huddersfield Town Football Club at its John Smiths Stadium after completing an evacuation audit for the club which has several Ferno evacuation products.
A particular area of expertise is our ability to ‘customise’ and ‘tailor’ courses and programmes to suit a wide range of customer and clients’ needs, which is what we did with the National Gallery delivering a high quality and cost effective training programme.
Michael Clarke, Director of the Scottish Galleries. “We found the training programme to be invaluable. It gave us the opportunity to learn about the full potential of Ferno’s equipment and all there uses, meaning that we are likely to use it far more than we would have done.”
The training service complements Ferno’s existing consulting programme and Evacuation Audit which ensures that companies keep their people safe in the event of an emergency evacuation.
A significant number of Ferno customers operating across a whole range of industries and sectors are struggling with new health and safety legislation such as the Equality Act 2010 and the fire safety Regulatory Reform Order 2005.
These two major changes in the law require companies to take responsibility for the evacuation of everyone on their site, whether they are employees, visitors or contractors, and that particular attention needs to be paid to procedures for disabled, injured or unwell persons.
As a result we have developed an Evacuation Audit service which helps companies understand what measures they must put in place to quickly and safely evacuate a building and comply with regulations.
The Ferno Evacuation Audit considers all aspects of an emergency evacuation including the management of disabled people, treating the injured, the effects of smoke, lighting and crowd control.
Buildings which have to comply with the new legislation include offices and shops, factories and warehouses, residential care and educational premises, theatres, cinemas, healthcare and transport premises and places of assembly - large or small.
Ferno’s work with the emergency services means that our staff are experts in all aspects of emergency evacuation planning and can help companies meet all their obligations under existing legislation.

Ferno on the field: Squel Stein at the Paralympics

Eagle-eyed fans of Ferno would have seen one of our stretchers on the field of play again this week at the Paralympics when Brazil's Squel Stein was carried off the field in a Ferno stretcher during a BMX cycling women's semifinal run. Stein fell off her bike after she landed on the grass following a big jump in the first half of the course. The 21-year-old Stein secured her best result in a major competition earlier this year when she reached the world championships final.

New X Lifter for funeral and mortuary sector

Ferno has launched ‘The X Lifter’ - a new lightweight body lifting solution for the funeral and mortuary sector.
The X Lifter has been developed to supply customers who have long demanded a more compact and diverse answer to solve common issues associated with other lifting devices.
The X Lifter makes it possible for anyone to single handedly easily load and unload a coffin rack. It is also super lightweight. It is 5kgs lighter than any similar item and the most compact lifter ever produced at 318mm when closed-down. Folding this small means the product can easily be hidden away underneath an altar when not in use.
And we already have one delighted customer in Colin Rescorla of C.L. Funeral Service, Cornwall who was the first to purchase an X Lifter at the National Association of Funeral Directors Conference in Stratford upon Avon. Keen to put it to work, he took it away the same day.
Colin says: “I wish I had bought one 15 years ago, it’s made things so much easier for us. The X Lifter has made it possible for one person to comfortably handle most jobs. I wish I had bought another at the same time”.
He added: “I’ve used Ferno products for many years, and I’d never buy anything else. As a metal worker, I had been considering building something of a similar design, but couldn’t see the point when the X Lifter does exactly what I need it to do.”
The X Lifter is available with two attachments - a tilting embalming top and a coffin frame. The embalming top comes complete with six body rests while the coffin frame has four rubber rollers that can be manufactured to suit individual needs and requirements.
Customers can opt to have a foot pedal on the X Lifter and the innovative new design makes it easier than ever to operate, with no exposed wires.
Ferno’s Managing Director, Jon Ellis said: “We are really pleased to now be able to supply a product that the market has been demanding for so long. It’s great knowing Ferno have filled that gap. We have already had some fantastic feedback off our customers”.
